The national team returns with three gold and one bronze medal in their baggage from Miramas, where the 1st U23 Mediterranean Games were held.

Miltos Tentoglou in long jump, made the qualification standard for Glasgow, jumping 7,99m in his second attempt. Two fouls and a jump at 7,96m and 7,98m were followed.
Emmanouil Karalis in pole vault made his first come back, after staying out of competitions for more than 10 months. Even though he started his competition a little soared, failing two times in 5,35m, he managed to pass over 5,45m and then 5,55m in his second attempt. He then continued by himself in the 5,65m height, since the French Collet had failed to pass the previous height.
Karalis and Tentoglou made the best performances in the competition, based on the IAAF’s scoring table.
Odysseas Mouzenidis in shot put, also was returning from an injury, since he had an operation four months ago. He started by making a new PB (he had 18,30m in the outdoors) throwing 18,42m, which was broken again in his third attempt with18,62m. The rest of his throws were fouled.
All of the three winners made the qualification standard for the U23 European Championships.
Alkisti Vaggeli in high jump started by having successful jumps in 1,70m, 1,73m and 1,76. She failed to pass the 1,79m which would be a new pb. The 6th place in the event was taken by the Cypriot Despoina Charalampous with 1,70m.
Anais Karagianni in 60m hurdles finished 7th with 8.73, setting a new PB. Previously in the qualification heats, she had also ran 8.77.
Thanos Kalakos was 6th in 800m with 1.52.22, Vera Grillou was 9th overall in the 400m with 61.18.
Cypriot Santa Kolomeiteva took the 6th place running the 60m dash in 7.73 and 7.78 in the quantification and the final respectively. Fotis Ioannou ran 7.05 in the qualification heats but got disqualified in the final.
Miramas stadium where the competition was held, was built 3 months ago and it’s the same stadium where the French nationals will be held.
