The Greek athletic federation SEGAS just announced the official team for the indoor championship in Glasgow. They are sending 17 athletes, this is the largest team Greece has send since 2005.
At the last Indoor European Championship in 2017 in Belgrade, Katerina Stefanidi, Kostas Filippidis and Voula Papachristou were the athletes that returned home with a medal.
In 2018 at the Outdoor European Championship in Berlin, Katerina Stefanidi and Nikol Kyriakopoulou did the legendary swipe finishing 1 and 2 in the women’s pole vault. Voula Papachristou won the triple jump and her teammate Miltos Tentoglou also came first at the men’s long jump.
Emmanouel Karalis, the World Youth record holder in pole vault will also join his experienced teammates. Tatiana Gusin on her first year out of college, will also try her luck jumping amongst the greatest high jumpers in the world. On the men’s side of high jump, Kostas Baniotis will be trying to improve his season best of 2.27m.
