Στους 3 ημιτελικούς στα 400μ εμπόδια γυναικών, η Φανή Χαλκιά δεν κατάφερε να προκριθεί μένοντας με 56”58 –κι ενώ έχασε και το βηματισμό της στο 9ο εμπόδιο- 7η στη σειρά της, όπου κέρδισε με 53”82 Petchenkina. Η Χριστίνα Χατζή ήταν με 56”35 7η στη σειρά της όπου νικήτρια ήταν με εθνικό ρεκόρ 53”86 η Jensen, ενώ η Ross-Williams πέρασε τελικά με 54”15 βάσει του 2ου καλυτερου χρόνου. 53”57 σημείωσε η Rawlinson στην άλλη σειρά και πάει με τον καλύτερο χρόνο στον τελικό (30.8 / 20:25)
Στους προημιτελικούς στα 200μ, με 20,51 ο Τάσος Γκούσης περασε 2ος απ τη σειρά του –ο Hession κέρδισε με 20,50. Οι Martin 20,25, Bolt 20,13, Gay 20,08 κέρδισαν τις σειρές τους στο δρόμο για τον ημιτελικό (29.8 / 22:20)
Στους ημιτελικούς στα 100μ εμπόδια γυναικών, 12,88 και πάλι για τη Φλώρα Ρεντούμη στην 1η σειρά. 12,64 η Kallur που μαζί με Whyte, Ennis-London, Jones και Perry- 12,55, Felicien-12,61, Dixon, Powell, πέρασαν στον τελικό (29.9 / 21:05)
Στον τελικό στο επικοντώ γυναικών νικήτρια η Yelena Isinbayeva με 5,80μ. (επιχείρησε ανεπιτυχώς και στα 5,02 για παγκόσμιο ρεκόρ), με 2η την Τσέχα Badurova που έκανε εθνικό ρεκόρ με 4,75, όσο η και 3η Feofanova και η 4η Pyrek.
Στον τελικό στη δισκοβολία ανδρών, νίκη για τον Εσθονό Kanter με 68,94μ., ακολούθησαν ο Γερμανός Hating και ο Ολλανδός Smith, και μόλις 4ος ο Alekna.
Απόλυτη ρωσική κυριαρχία στον τελικό στο μήκος γυναικών νικήτρια η Lebedeva με 7,03μ. (σε 2 αλματα), και στο στο τελευταίο τους άλμα 2η η Kolchakova με 6,92 και 3η η Kotova με 6,90, και 4η τελικά με 6,87 η Gomez
Κενυατική υπόθεση ο τελικός στα 3000μ στηπλ ανδρών με Kipruto (8,13’82), Kemboi, Mateelong.
Στον τελικό στα 800μ γυναικών νικήτρια με 1’56”04 η Jepkosgei, 1’56”99 Benhasi, 3η η Martinez με 1’57”62, ενώ η Mutola εγκατέλειψε 50μ πριν τον τερματισμό.
