Η AIU (Athletics Integrity Unit) δημιουργήθηκε από την Παγκόσμια Ομοσπονδία Κλασικού Αθλητισμού (IAAF /νυν World Athletics) το 2017 και είναι μια ανεξάρτητη Αρχή στην καταπολέμηση του doping.
Ο Παγκόσμιος Οργανισμός Αντιντόπινγκ (WADA) είναι διεθνές ίδρυμα το οποίο εργάζεται προς αποτροπή της χρήσης απαγορευμένων ουσιών από τους αθλητές. Δημιουργήθηκε το 1999 μέσω συλλογικής πρωτοβουλίας με επικεφαλής τη Διεθνή Ολυμπιακή Επιτροπή ως αποτέλεσμα της «Διακήρυξης της Λωζάννης». Οι βασικές δραστηριότητες του οργανισμού περιλαμβάνουν την επιστημονική έρευνα, την εκπαίδευση, την ανάπτυξη των ικανοτήτων ανίχνευσης του ντόπινγκ και την παρακολούθηση του Παγκόσμιου Κώδικα Αντιντόπινγκ.
Το 2003 δημιουργήθηκε ο κώδικας Anti-doping, με εφαρμογή από το 2004.

The List is divided into substances and methods that are:
- Prohibited at all times
eg hormones, anabolics, EPO, beta-2 agonists, masking agents and diuretics
& methods such as blood transfusion or manipulation, or intravenous injections in some situations. - Prohibited only In-Competition (In-Competition: The period commencing at 11:59 p.m. on the day before a Competition in which the Athlete is scheduled to participate through to the end of such Competition and the Sample collection process related to such Competition).

A substances or method can be added to the Prohibited List if it is deemed to meet two of the following three criteria:
- It has the potential to enhance or enhances sport performance
- Use of the substance or method represents an actual or potential health risk to the athlete
- Use of the substance or method violates the spirit of sport (as described in the introduction to the Code).

Therapeutic Use Exemptions
A Therapeutic Use Exemption allows an Athlete with a medical condition to Use a Prohibited Substance or Prohibited Method, but only if the conditions set out in Rule 4.4 and the International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions are met.
